Hi Ok if the EGR cooler was leaking then there would be a drop in the coolant level Obvious I cannot see how thick etc the smoke/smog is It sounds like overfuelling due to the symptoms of diesel knock etc It would be worth removing the leak off pipes to clarify if this return valve could be the problems this forces fuel back to the injectors instead of smoothly outthe return to pump Also these

Posted November 27, 2022. Hi all, I have owned my Ford Fiesta 1.4 TDCi mk6 for almost 1.5 years now. It has been a great car, cheap tax, insurance, fuel etc. However, the last couple of months I’ve encountered a problem that is getting significantly worse. When starting my car, my idle revs fluctuate a few hundred rpm and the car chugs.

Ive just got a ford focus 1.6 tdci 2005 which generally runs fine but ive noticed when cruising say on motorway or going up long hills seems to hesitate then kick in and chuck a bit of smoke out every now and again. I had it plugged in at local garage and a code for a sluggish/faulty EGR valve came up.
Gonna get a large ball bearing and wedge it in pipe and then stuff loads of gungum exhaust sealent in and around it.Seeing as the gasses will have been cooled down a tad by going through the cooler I think it should be o.k.(hopefully)Or I could just bite the bullet and take of the fuel filter and pipes to get at the egr bolts and fit blanking plate and then try to bleed fuel filter.or I
